
Course Description: Intermediate Cinematography
This course builds upon the foundational principles of cinematography, advancing students’ technical and creative skills in visual storytelling. It explores the relationship between camera, light, and narrative, emphasizing how cinematographic choices shape mood, meaning, and audience engagement. Students will gain hands-on experience with professional camera equipment, lenses, lighting setups, and movement techniques while learning to collaborate effectively within a film production team.
The course covers intermediate-level concepts such as camera angles, framing, shot composition, depth of field, dynamic camera movements, color theory, and the use of natural and artificial lighting. Students will also engage with cinematic aesthetics, analyzing how cinematography conveys power, emotion, symbolism, and character relationships. Practical assignments and projects will focus on planning, shooting, and evaluating short narrative and documentary scenes with attention to visual continuity and storytelling impact.
