Tourism Planning, Policy and Development in the East African Community (EAC) is an advanced course that examines how tourism is planned, regulated, and developed within the East African regional framework. Students will explore how countries such as Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and South Sudan coordinate tourism strategies, manage shared resources, and promote regional tourism competitiveness. The course also emphasizes sustainable tourism planning, stakeholder engagement, governance, and the role of public and private sectors in tourism development.

Accommodation Operations II is an advanced course that builds on foundational hospitality knowledge to develop practical and managerial skills required in the operation of accommodation establishments such as hotels, lodges, guesthouses, and resorts. The course focuses on front office management, housekeeping supervision, guest services, reservation systems, room division management, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
Students will gain deeper understanding of hotel coordination systems, staff management, customer satisfaction strategies, and the use of ICT in accommodation operations. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, service excellence, and maintaining international hospitality standards.

Cultures and Tourism in Rwanda is an interdisciplinary course that explores the relationship between cultural heritage and tourism development in Rwanda. The course examines Rwanda’s cultural identity, traditional values, arts, heritage sites, festivals, and community practices, and how these elements contribute to sustainable tourism development.
Students will analyze how cultural resources are preserved, promoted, and marketed as tourism products while ensuring respect for authenticity and community participation. The course also emphasizes the role of cultural tourism in national identity building, economic development, and intercultural understanding.
